Ductless AC in Alexander City, Auburn, Opelika, AL & Surrounding Areas
If you are looking to remodel a garage or spare room, you may need to rethink your climate control options. Ductless air conditioning could be the right choice for your home and budget.
What is Ductless AC?
Ductless air conditioning uses a wall-mounted attachment to cool a small space. As the name sounds, this form of AC doesn’t rely on traditional HVAC ductwork to push air into multiple rooms. Ductless AC is often controlled by a hand-held remote, rather than a thermostat. The main similarity between ductless and traditional air conditioning is that both types have an indoor and an outdoor unit.
You may already know a few places that use ductless AC without realizing it. The next time you are in a small office or hotel, look for a wall-mounted unit that cools the area.
How Does Ductless AC Work?
Ductless air conditioning works by filtering warm air over a series of coils which cool it and then push it throughout the room. Meanwhile, the ductless unit also pulls hot air out of the room and to the outside unit, where it is released. While it works in much the same way as any other HVAC unit, the ductless model is known for being smaller and easier to install.
Just like a traditional HVAC unit, ductless air conditioning requires regular maintenance and cleaning. It is also capable of breaking down over time. At Advanced Heating & Air Conditioning, LLC, our technicians are able to service any form of air conditioning unit, ductless or otherwise.
Who Should Use Ductless AC?
Ductless air conditioning is an ideal option if you already have an existing duct system but need to cool a new part of the house. For example, if you plan to finish the garage and turn it into another bedroom or an office, then you may need a mini-split to cool the room without having to extend your current duct system.
Ductless AC can also be used to cool small spaces. If you build a small guesthouse in your backyard, then you may be able to add ductless AC if you just need to cool one or two rooms. This can be a more affordable option than building a whole HVAC system.
